For Candidates

What to Expect

Fast Track Your Job Search

Job candidates come to us for a variety of reasons: wanting a new opportunity, wanting to work with new technology, or looking for work after a corporate downsizing, just to name a few. Regardless of your reasons, we want you to know that Stout Systems has a time-saving, proven system for putting the right candidates in front of the right hiring managers.

We help candidates find direct hire and short and long-term contract opportunities. We also work with independent contractors. There are no fees to our candidates for our placement services.

With Stout Systems Your Chances Are Better

We know that while our clients expect truly qualified candidates, our candidates expect truly interested clients. What that means to you is that we will save you valuable time because only companies with opportunities that meet your exact qualifications and requirements will see your resume. You will be in a small pool of qualified candidates—not a large pile of resumes. This means the company has an opportunity to get to know and remember you.

Submitting Your Resume

Any resume sent to us is reviewed within 48 hours. If we find you are a good match for an open position or contract, we will invite you to begin our screening process. This occurs via an e-mail invitation to complete your confidential online profile. We ask that you do that as quickly as possible.

We will also let you know when we don't feel we have a position that is a match for you at this time. Please feel free to visit our jobs listings regularly and resubmit your resume if a new position opens that does look like a good fit. You can also subscribe to our RSS feed so that you can receive job listings the moment they are posted on our site.

We welcome the opportunity to reconsider your resume for other positions.

Please note: Our reply emails will come from stoutworks.com and stoutsystems.com so please ensure that those domain names are placed on your safe recipient list. Don't miss opportunities because our emails end up in your junk email folder!

Completing Your Profile

Our first step in learning more about you is to have you complete a confidential profile.

You will receive a link to your unique profile page in an email. It usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes to complete and will collect both information already on your resume as well as additional information typically not included on a resume (such as salary expectations, ability to travel and more details regarding your skills).

Completing the profile makes it easier for us to find a match for you because it allows for more effective searching (as opposed to simply scanning through resumes). This profile is for our internal use only.

Technical Interview

If, after review of your online profile, your skills and background match a current job opening, we will conduct a technical interview. This technical interview consists of a series of questions on one or two technical topics. The technical interview is usually conducted over the phone, running 10-15 minutes on average.

Some people consider it to be a test. Our interest isn't in rating your skills on a pass/fail basis; it's in getting to know you better so that we can properly represent your technical skills to companies. In some cases we request additional information by email, such as a portfolio of design work or a profile of your managerial experience. The goal is the same: to understand your skills so that we can best represent you to companies.

References

Upon completion of our internal interviews, we request that you send us the names and contact information for your references. Normally, we don't contact your references until quite late in the interview process with our clients. In any case, we don't contact references until after you have given us the go-ahead to do so.

Resume Submissions and Interviews

If resume, profile and technical interview results show that you are a good match for a position, we will call you to discuss it in detail. This is the point at which we will share all client details with you so that you can decide whether or not you are interested in having your resume submitted there. It is our policy not to submit your resume to a company without checking with you first. Please note that we normally cannot submit your resume to a company if you have already submitted it to that company recently.

When it comes to job opportunities, speed counts. The faster you complete your profile and screenings the faster we can move to the interview process.

If the company expresses an interest, Stout Systems will set up your interview in accordance with that company's standard interview procedures. Even if the company's process involves more than one interview, we will be with you every step of the way until you receive and accept an offer letter or are put under contract.

Our customers expect two things: 1) that if you make it to the interview stage you are available to start work in the near future, and 2) you are able to make a quick decision about a job offer.

If anything changes in your work status after you submit your resume to us, it is important that you communicate that change to us. We also ask that you only accept interviews for positions that truly interest you so that no time is wasted during your job search.
